Safeguarding

KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE IS

EVERYONE'S

RESPONSIBILITY!

"All parents who responded to the questionnaire, Parent view, believe their children are safe and well cared for at school. Similarly , those spoken to in school had nothing but praise for the school's support for their children, saying, 'the staff take time to get to know each pupil, including their family circumstances'." Ofsted 2013

Our school has a duty to safeguard everyone within its community and promote the welfare of our pupils.

This means that we have a child protection policy and procedures in place. All staff including our volunteers and supply staff must ensure they are aware of our safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Parents and carers are welcome to read these by clicking on the relevant link below or requesting a copy from our school secretary.

"Pupils have a good understanding, appropriate to their age, of different types of bullying including name-calling, and internet safety. They say that 'most of us are very good', and that 'sometimes people fall out but the teachers sort it out,' They know who to talk to if they have any problems at school." Ofsted 2013

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will always ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with the parents/ carers first, unless we have reason to believe that this is not in the child’s best interests.

We seek advice and guidance from Cornwall Council’s MARU (Multi-agency Referral Unit) and follow the South West Child Protection Procedures as stated on

www.online-procedures.co.uk/swcpp/

and the Local Safeguarding Children Board at

www.safechildren-cios.co.uk

MARU’s phone number is 0300 123 1116 MARU’s out-of-hours phone number is 01208 251300
